Greenhill Mourns Linda White

Greenhill mourns Linda (Howell, Thompson) White, Greenhill School Legend (1981 – 2018), who passed away on October 29, 2025.

Greenhill Legend Linda (Howell, Thompson) White passed away on October 29, 2025, after an extended illness.

The consummate lifelong learner, Linda made her mark on the lives of thousands of Greenhill students during her time on the Hill from 1981 to 2018. She was beloved by students for her unflagging zest for living, her deep and genuine concern for their well-being, and her willingness to go above and beyond in guiding them through challenging math – and life – situations.

Colleagues revered her passion for exploring new and better ways of teaching. Linda taught in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades in Greenhill’s Lower School, also serving as grade-level team leader and department coordinator for much of her tenure. She was recognized by her peers as a Faculty Leader – the highest faculty honor at Greenhill – in 2005. She embodied the finest qualities of a Greenhill teacher.

Linda is survived by her sons, Troy Thompson ’91 and Todd Thompson ’95, her husband, Randy Watson, and her step-daughter, Devon Watson. A memorial service will be held at Bent Tree Bible Fellowship in Carrollton on December 6, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held in the Montgomery Library on Saturday, April 4, at 3:00 pm.

We offer our deepest sympathy to Linda's family and those in our Greenhill community who knew her. View her full obituary here.
